Launch of T-ZERO, Innovatiove New National Resource for Sustainable Refurbishment of Domestic Properties

Developed by Solstice, T-ZERO is a sophisticated online calculator and advice system that instantly processes millions of records of SAP data to provide independent sustainable refurbishment advice to users, with the option of linking directly to the suppliers, manufacturers, and installers of any refurbishment measures chosen.

T-ZERO is a non-profit project initiated by some of the UK's leading energy conservation and housing charities, housing associations, architects and buildings performance specialists including BRE, Association for the Conservation of Energy, Price & Myers and the National Energy Foundation, together with English Heritage and the Housing Corporation. It is supported by the Technology Strategy Board (formerly DTI) and its brief is to develop novel ways to reduce environmental impacts from existing housing, working towards a future goal of a zero carbon built environment.

Launch of WRAP NW Tool, a major new online toolkit for construction industry.
Launch of WRAP NW Tool, a major new online toolkit for construction industry.

Following development of the successful WRAP Recycled Content Toolkit in 2005, Solstice working in partnership with Cyril Sweett were invited to undertake development to take the project to a new phase offering comprehensive support for Net Waste calculation. On completion, the RC Toolkit was re-named the WRAP NW Tool and launched in May 2008.

Dr David Moon, WRAP Programme Manager for Construction Procurement, said:

The Net Waste Tool is a powerful resource that acts as a guide from the earliest stages of design through to the construction and post-construction phases. Depending on the project size, within a couple of hours it should be possible to enter the main project parameters, get an initial approximation of the waste that is likely to be produced and an outline of your options for reducing that waste.
